GLASTONBURY, Conn. — A fatal crash occurred on Friday in Glastonbury when a sedan struck a dump truck head-on, according to Glastonbury police. The woman driving the sedan lost her life.
Around 10:36 a.m., the town’s police department, volunteer fire department, EMS, and the Ambulance Service of Manchester responded to the motor vehicle accident that occurred on Keeney Street between Old Reservoir Road and Woodfield Crossing, police said.
According to police, a preliminary investigation discovered that the sedan was traveling north on Keeney Street when it crossed the centerline and struck a dump truck/trailer combination. The female driver was the sole occupant of the sedan; she was announced dead on scene, police said.
The dump truck driver escaped injury, according to police. Personnel from the Metro Traffic Services regional construction team processed the scene, along with the Connecticut State Police Traffic Unit and members of the Glastonbury Police Traffic Unit.
The woman who died has yet to be identified, as police said they are looking to notify her next of kin.
