HARTFORD, Conn — A dirt bike rider was killed in a crash with a school bus Wednesday afternoon according to Hartford police.
Hartford firefighters said they were called to Barbour Street and Tower Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle crash. They said they found an empty school bus had crashed with a dirt bike and the victim was trapped underneath the bus.
Officials said the bus was taking a left from Barbour Street on to Tower Avenue when the crash happened.
The victim was unresponsive and not breathing according to firefighters who were able to start CPR immediately, while additional fire companies worked to extricate the trapped victim.
The crash happened near an intersection to Hartford's Keney Park on Tower Avenue.
Once the victim was removed, the EMS unit on the scene took them to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
On Thursday, he was identified as 30-year-old Arturo Rivera of Hartford.
