HARTFORD, Conn. — A woman was arrested after a fatal crash with a motorcycle in May that left a man dead, Hartford police said Thursday.
Ingrid Galarza, 37, of Hartford, is facing charges of negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, assault in the second degree, operating without a license, failure to renew registration, insufficient insurance and improper turn.
On May 26 at 1:52 p.m., officers went to the area of Zion Street at the intersection of Harbinson Avenue after receiving a report about a collision involving a car and a motorcycle, police said. A red Yamaha motorcycle and a gray Nissan Murano were found in the middle of the roadway as police arrived to the scene.
The driver of the motorcycle, identified as John Marrero, 20, of Hartford, and a 22-year-old motorcycle passenger were found on the ground with severe injuries.
Police said after both were taken to Hartford Hospital for "serious, potentially life-threatening injuries," Marrero died on May 27 at the hospital.
According to police, the driver of the Nissan, identified as Galarza, remained at the scene of the crash and had minor injuries.
On July 25, Galarza was arrested by Crime Scene Division detectives after they obtained a felony arrest warrant.
