MANCHESTER, Conn. — A driver died after being injured after a crash Sunday night in Manchester, officials said.

Manchester first responders were called to Buckland Hills Drive in the area of the water tower around 8:30 p.m. on the report of a single-vehicle crash.

Makayla Theriaque, 19, of Vernon, died from her injuries.

When Manchester firefighters got to the scene, they found one person in critical condition and trapped in their vehicle that had "significant damage."

Fire crews extricated the person from the vehicle within 30 minutes and they were rushed to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries, according to officials where they later died.

Buckland Hills Drive was closed for an extended period of time Sunday night while the crash was investigated.

At this time it's unknown what may have caused the crash.
