NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A young bicyclist was critically injured after holding onto a moving car in New Haven Saturday, city police said.
At 11:13 a.m. Saturday, officers went to 4 Forbes Avenue after receiving a report about a possible vehicle crash, police said.
Based on witness statements and video before the collision, investigators determined that two bicyclists were holding onto a moving black sedan from the side of its front windows, according to police. The sedan was headed west on Forbes Avenue.
One of the witnesses at the scene told officers that the bicyclists lost control and fell as the sedan approached 4 Forbes Avenue, police said.
One of the bicyclists, a young male, had a head injury and was taken to Yale Pediatric Hospital in critical condition. The sedan took off from the scene, according to police.
The Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating, and anyone who witnessed the crash or has information is asked by police to call detectives at 203-946-6304 or the department's tip line at 866-888-TIPS (8477).
