NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — A student who was hit by a school bus in New Britain on Friday afternoon is expected to be OK, according to officials.
The student was hit by the school bus during dismissal around 2:15 p.m. at CREC Academy of Science of Innovation, according to school officials.
"School staff reacted quickly to ensure the student got proper emergency medical care and that no other students found themselves in harm’s way," a spokesperson for CREC said in a statement.
CREC is providing counseling services over the weekend and on Monday for those who were affected by the incident.
The student was taken to Connecticut Children's Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries, the mayor's office said.
CREC Academy of Science and Innovation provides education to students in grades 6 through 12.
