WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — The driver and passenger of a stolen vehicle were taken into custody Monday after leading police on a pursuit and colliding with a school bus in West Hartford, according to the town's police department.
Police posted on X at 6:51 p.m. that the intersection of Trout Brook Drive and Farmington Avenue was reopened after an alert about the closure was sent out at 5:21 p.m.
Officers in West Hartford had spotted a stolen Kia Sportage that was reportedly involved a shots-fired incident in Hartford and attempted to pull it over, police said.
According to police, the driver of the Kia did not stop despite the officers' signals and led them on a pursuit.
After using a tire deflation device on the Kia, police said it became disabled near the intersection of Farmington Avenue and Trout Brook Drive, and hit a school bus. Only the bus driver was on board at the time.
The driver and passenger of the stolen Kia, along with the bus driver, had non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash, police said.
Both people in the Kia were apprehended by West Hartford police and turned over to the Hartford Police Department.
