WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. — For the eighth consecutive year, Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks has been named one of the United States’ top 10 airports by the Condé Nast Traveler’s 2024 Readers’ Choice Award program.

The Connecticut Airport Authority announced that the airport received the recognition on Tuesday afternoon. According to the CAA, the Readers’ Choice Awards are considered the travel industry’s longest running and most prestigious accolades and the ultimate symbol and acknowledgement of excellence within the travel sector.

On this year’s list, Bradley International Airport ranked eighth overall.

Kevin Dillon, A.A.A. is the CAA’s executive director; he said the award from Condé Nast Traveler affirms the impact that Bradley International Airport has on the millions of people who pass through the facility each year. In a statement, he thanks the entire airport community for helping make this type of recognition possible.

“Bradley International Airport takes tremendous pride in the convenience we offer our travelers, which includes a growing list of airlines, nonstop destinations and significant additions and upgrades to dining, shopping and services that benefit our travelers,” Dillon said.

The recognition comes as the Winsor Locks airport grows its list of nonstop flights to over 45 destinations on 12 different airlines.

Dillon says the airport has also made major enhancements to several of its retail locations, including the introduction of two new concepts – the Charter Oak Emporium and CT River Landing – as well as the renovation of its existing New England Travel Mart location. Other upgrades are on the way, he adds.

This year, the airport also opened the Beercode Kitchen & Bar, the first sit-down restaurant located inside the gates 21-30 concourse. The Sam Adams pre-TSA screening has also been introduced, according to the CAA.

Additionally, Bradley International Airport is undergoing two significant construction projects that will improve the flow and functionality of the airport for both arriving and departing passengers when completed in late 2025.

The airport also has a new concierge service available for travelers in collaboration with Travelers Aid International.

The CAA was created in 2011 to develop, improve and operate Bradley International Airport and the state’s five general aviation airports (Danielson, Groton-New London, Hartford-Brainard, Waterbury-Oxford and Windham).

According to the CAA, Bradley International Airport contributes nearly $3.6 billion to the regional economy, and its operations are entirely self-funded.
