PORTLAND, Conn. — A teen was seriously hurt after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday in Portland, the town's police department said.
According to Portland police, officers were sent to the scene after they received a call at 5:33 p.m. about the crash on Main Street.
A 14-year-old attempted to cross the street on foot when he was hit, police said. He was treated on scene and taken to Connecticut Children's Medical Center for serious injuries.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police.
Wednesday morning, police said the teen has a broken femur and broken pelvis which will need surgery and is expected to fully recover.
