Driver dies after car hits tree in Middletown: Police

Westfield firefighters rescued the driver, who was stuck inside.

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — A Middletown man has died after his car crashed into a tree late Wednesday night.

Police and firefighters were called to Atkins St. in the area of Timber Ridge Road just after 11:30 p.m.

Arriving officers found an Infiniti Q50 on the road with heavy damage with a man inside. The car left the road and hit a tree, police determined. Westfield firefighters rescued the driver, who was stuck inside.

The driver, identified as Matthew Le Clair, 30, died from his injuries on the scene, police said.

Police are investigating the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 860-638-4063.
