WESTBROOK, Conn. — Connecticut State Police said a boy is facing charges after an assault in Westbrook last week.
The assault happened last Friday, officials said. Troop F in Westbrook was called to a home on Boston Post Road on the report of an injured boy. The victim was then flown by Life Star to a local hospital with serious injuries. According to state police, the victim had been assaulted.
State police said investigators reviewed available security video footage, which showed the boy being assaulted by another boy who then ran from the scene on foot.
The families of both boys involved were notified of the incident, according to officials. Their ages were not detailed by state police.
The Central District Major Crime Squad was also called to the scene to investigate. Several K-9s, a bloodhound, the state police Drone Unit, and other assets were deployed to try and find the assailant.
Detectives also obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect, charging him with a criminal attempt to commit murder with an order to detain.
Local police departments were told of the incident and were provided with a description of the suspect.
The suspect has since been found and was taken into custody without incident. He was taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation and remains in police custody.
Police have not identified those involved due to their ages.
