MILFORD, Conn. — A Metro-North train hit a tree that was sitting on the tracks in Milford, sending one passenger to the hospital on Monday, the town's fire department said.
According to the Milford Fire Department, crews were sent to the Waterbury Branch train line on Herbert Street at 11:28 a.m. after receiving a report that a train had hit a tree.
The collision had happened an hour earlier and MTA maintenance crews were already in the process of removing the tree, the fire department said.
One person was evaluated and taken to the hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries. 50 other passengers had been on board at the time but no one else was injured.
Train service on the Waterbury line was delayed earlier in the afternoon as a result of the collision, the fire department said. According to the Metropolitan Transit Authority, the service had been temporarily replaced with a bus as crews worked to remove the train.
