Branford library evacuated after bomb threat: Police

Blackstone Memorial Library has been cleared and surrounding streets were reopened after being closed for the investigation, according to police.

BRANFORD, Conn — A Branford library was evacuated Tuesday afternoon after the staff received a bomb threat that prompted a police investigation, according to the town's police department.

Police said that they were contacted by the staff of Blackstone Memorial Library, reporting that a bomb threat had been emailed to them.

The New Haven Police Bomb Squad assisted police with clearing the building.

Surrounding streets were reopened after being closed to traffic during the investigation.
