HAMDEN, Conn. — A pedestrian was rescued from under a car after being hit and becoming trapped on Tuesday morning, according to firefighters in Hamden.

Crews were called to Brooksvale Avenue, near the Farmington Canal Linear Park, for a report of a person hit and trapped under a vehicle.

Units on scene were able to free and rescue her from the vehicle's undercarriage, firefighters said.

Paramedics treated her on scene before an ambulance took her to an area hospital. She sustained serious injuries, but was alert and conscious at the scene, police said.

Local police controlled the scene and started an investigation into the pedestrian crash, officials said. Brooksvale Avenue from Whitney Avenue to Still Hill Road is closed at this time, police said.

This is a developing story.
