GRISWOLD, Conn. — One man was sent to the hospital with serious injuries after a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle occurred along Hopeville Road in Griswold early Saturday afternoon, according to state police.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., a black 2004 Suzuki AN650K3 motorcycle being operated by Sean Mcgloin of Jewett City was traveling southbound on Hopeville Road, state police said.
At the same time, a black 2006 Nissan Titan was stopped at the top of a driveway on Hopeville Road waiting to turn left onto the road and travel northbound, according to state police. The Nissan was being driven by Tyler Griggs of Griswold, who was leaving his residence.
State police said that as the Nissan turned left to begin traveling northbound on Hopeville Road, its left side was struck by the Suzuki motorcycle, which landed on its right side near the top of Griggs’ driveway. The Nissan came to rest in the northbound lane of Hopeville Road.
According to state police, Mcgloin, the man riding the motorcycle, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich via ambulance. Griggs did not sustain injuries, state police said.
Both vehicles were towed away from the scene, and the crash remains under investigation. State police ask anyone who witnessed the collision, has video of the collision or has information pertinent to the investigation to contact Trooper Christopher Brett #691 at 860-848-6540.
