MILFORD, Conn. — Platt Tech High School in Milford will maintain an increased police presence for the remainder of the week, according to the school Tuesday.
The police presence and additional security measures were put in place as officials investigate an anonymous threat made against the tech school, according to Kerry Markey, director of communications for Connecticut Technical Education and Career System.
In an update Tuesday evening, Platt Tech Principal Brian Gilbert said that there is "no reason to believe there is any immediate danger to our students or staff," and that "out of an abundance of caution," the extra police presence from Tuesday will be extended "over the next few days."
"We understand that incidents like this can cause anxiety for students and want to remind you that school counselors and other support services are available for anyone who may need to talk," Gilbert said. "Please do not hesitate to reach out to our staff if your child needs support."
Since the school year started over the past month, Connecticut schools have endured a slew of lockdowns and extra police presence as police and school administrators investigated numerous threats, including in Ansonia, in Windsor, in Stamford, and Meriden.
A Quinnipiac student was arrested last week after a bomb threat "hoax" prompted building evacuations.
