NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Yale Police Department announced Wednesday they dealt with “a concerning trend in criminal activity” over the weekend in New Haven.
YPD said in a press release they received multiple reports of vehicle damage and car thefts, some involving youth.
It highlighted two incidents around active security vehicles. A gray sedan forcefully ran into one of the security vehicles, police said. Another incident involved a passenger of a gray sedan damaged a security vehicle with a screwdriver, according to police.
The press release did not clarify if it was the same gray sedan in both crimes.
Anyone who knows information about these incident is asked to call the YPD at 203-432-4400.
Anonymous tips can be submitted through the LiveSafe app, “an app that gives students, staff, and faculty on campus an effective way to communicate with Yale Police (YPD) via a mobile device.”
Police said similar incidents occurred throughout Yale’s campus on York Street, Winchester Avenue, Howe Street, Canal Street, Prospect Street, Highland Street and Munson Street.
