NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A man died from his injuries in a hit-and-run in New Haven Sunday night, the city's police department said.
Officers said they went to the area of Whalley Avenue and Brownell Street at 9:26 p.m. after receiving a report about a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.
A man, identified by police as Yusuf Suat Gursey, 70, who was found in the road and later died after being taken to the hospital by American Medical Response for injuries that were determined to be life threatening.
Police said the vehicle involved reportedly left the scene after hitting Gursey and was later found and taken for evidence. There is currently no word on a suspect.
The department's Crash Reconstruction Team was called to the scene for the investigation, according to police.
