HEBRON, Conn. — A person died in Hebron Sunday after the car they were in appeared to have hit a tree off-road and caught fire, the town's fire department said.
State police at Troop K in Colchester said they, along with the fire department, received a report at 9:48 a.m. about a crash involving a car fire on West Street near Karlswood Road.
Fire department first responders arrived to the scene at 9:50 a.m. and extinguished the flames.
The only person inside the car at the time died at the scene, the fire department said. Police have not released their identity.
West Street was closed during the investigation but has since reopened, according to state police.
The Hebron Fire Department and Connecticut State Police are leading the investigation into the crash.
Any additional information regarding the incident will be released by Troop K, the fire department said.
