NEW HAVEN, Conn. — New Haven police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that happened last year.
The crash happened in June 2023 around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Haven Street and Clay Street. Police said they were called to the scene on the report of a car hitting a motorcycle.
The car involved was described as a green-colored Honda Accord, and police said the car drove off from the scene before officers responded, leaving the motorcyclist lying in the road. The 42-year-old man, who was a New Haven resident, was rushed to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.
Investigators worked with witnesses at the scene and eventually identified the driver of the Honda as 20-year-old Dajon Morris, also a New Haven resident.
Police secured an arrest warrant for Morris, and he was taken into custody without incident on Tuesday.
Morris is charged with evading responsibility resulting in death, misuse of a marker plate, driving without a license, driving an unregistered car, insufficient insurance, three counts of failing to obey a stop sign, failing to obey a traffic signal, and window tints.
Morris was held on a $75,000 bond.
