NORTH BRANFORD, Conn. — A man is dead after he was hit by a vehicle Thursday morning in North Branford, police said.
The department said on its Facebook page that its dispatch center got a 911 call just after 7 a.m., reporting an injured person on Foxon Road near Shaw Road. When first responders got to the scene, they found a man who was pronounced dead by paramedics.
Police said that the man had been hit by a vehicle which did not stay at the scene. The man has not been identified at this time.
Branford police said the South Central Regional Accident Investigation Unit is processing the scene and investigating the crash.
While the investigation is underway, Foxon Road is closed between the East Haven town line and Totoket Road for an "extended period of time," police said.
If anyone witnessed the crash or has information that can help investigators, they're asked to call the North Branford Police Department at 203-484-2703.
