New Haven man fatally stabbed at convenience store: Police

Police learned the victim was stabbed during an argument with someone at a convenience store on Whalley Avenue. He was then driven to the hospital.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A New Haven man has died after being stabbed at a convenience store in New Haven overnight Saturday, according to police.

Police said St. Raphael's Hospital told police just after 1 a.m. that Travis James, 47, was dropped off at the hospital in critical condition and later died at the hospital.

Police said they initially heard from the hospital that James was shot, but police later determined that he was stabbed.

Officers learned that James was stabbed during an argument with someone at the Sam's Mart on Whalley Avenue. Someone then drove James to the hospital.
