NORTH HAVEN, Conn. — After a vehicle crashed into the back of a tractor trailer Friday evening, its two occupants were extracted and taken to area hospitals with serious injuries, according to a Facebook post from the North Haven Fire Department.
Around 8:27 p.m., the fire department responded to Interstate 91 northbound between Exits 11 and 12 for reports of a vehicle under a tractor trailer, the Facebook post says. The first emergency responders on scene reported that two individuals were trapped in the vehicle and required extraction.

As of 10 p.m., Connecticut State Police remained on scene, according to the fire department. Lane closures are expected for the next several hours.
No other hazards or other injuries were reported, the fire department says.
