WEST HAVEN, Conn. — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle in West Haven on Friday evening, according to local police.
Officers were called to the area of Derby Avenue and Central Avenue around 10:40 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian hit.
Arriving officers found an unresponsive male, who has not been identified, lying on the side of the road. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries, according to police.
Police believe the victim was walking on the side of the road by the fog line when he was hit. The driver was traveling east when the victim was hit. The driver stopped and tried to help the victim. They then remained on scene and cooperated with police, officials said.
