WEST HAVEN, Conn. — A man was arrested in a homicide investigation involving a person who was found dead in November of 2023, the West Haven Police Department said.
On Friday, police said that officers assisting the State of Connecticut Liquor Control Division and the Dept. of Labor with an investigation at the Tropical Caribbean restaurant arrested the owner Juan Reyes.
Information gathered throughout the homicide investigation led police to obtaining several arrest warrants, including for Reyes, who was charged with possession of an assault weapon, illegally altering or removing identification marks on a firearm, and possession of a high-capacity magazine. He is currently being held on bond.
Police said that more arrests are to be expected as the investigation into the homicide continues. The Tropical Caribbean restaurant is temporarily closed due to multiple violations with the Dept. of Labor.
The investigation began on Nov. 26, 2023, when officers found a male victim with gunshot wound injuries in a parking lot in the area of Campbell Avenue. The person later died from his injuries, police said.
