MONTVILLE, Connecticut — A judge sentenced a Bridgeport man for his role in a 2022 armed robbery in Montville, according to the state Division of Criminal Justice Monday.
The sentencing execution is suspended after nine years served, followed by five years of probation, the DCJ said.
On Aug. 9, a Superior Court jury found Edward Taylor, 33, of Bridgeport guilty of robbery in the first degree, robbery in the second degree and larceny in the first degree.
Citing evidence from the trial, DCJ said a 911 call to Mohegan Tribal Police reported an armed robbery of a customer at the Mobile Gas Station on Mohegan Sun Boulevard on June 7, 2022.
The victim reported that two men exited a vehicle displaying a knife, DCJ said. After a struggle, the men allegedly stole over $55,000 in cash from the victim.
The suspects then took off in their vehicle as the victim held on, "dragging him several yards," DCJ said.
The victim was left with minor injuries from the incident.
According to DCJ, the Mohegan Tribal Police, with help from Mohegan Sun Surveillance, identified the vehicle and the suspects. Investigators also allegedly found Taylor's DNA on the victim's clothing.
