Fatal motorcycle crash under investigation in Bozrah

State police said the man was negotiating a curve when he lost control of his motorcycle.

BOZRAH, Conn — A man died in a crash Wednesday after losing control of his motorcycle in Bozrah, according to Connecticut State Police.

Based on preliminary information, state police said the crash happened at 1:37 a.m. on Bishop Road at the intersection of Bear Hill Road.

Investigators learned that a man, later identified as Michael Austin, 42, of Yantic, was traveling north on a Harley Davidson motorcycle along Bishop Road. 

He allegedly lost control of of the motorcycle while negotiating a right-hand curve of the roadway, crossing into the southbound lane and colliding with a rocky embankment.

Austin landed in the woods off the right shoulder of the southbound lane after the collision separated him from his motorcycle, according to state police. 

State police said Austin was brought to Backus Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was later pronounced dead.
