NEW LONDON, Conn. — New London police said Monday that a man died from his injuries two days after a crash involving two scooters on Oct. 9.
At 10:56 a.m. on Oct. 9, New London's police and fire departments went to Broad Street in the area of the Cedar Grove Cemetery entrance after receiving a report of the crash. Based on preliminary information, investigators learned that two scooters collided, police said.
First responders found an unresponsive man in the roadway. They provided him medical aid before bringing him to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, according to police. He was first listed at the hospital in critical condition.
Police said in an update that the man, identified as Raymond Getty, 68, of New London, died from his injuries on Oct. 11.
A second scooter operator was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police are investigating the crash and ask anyone who has information or was a witness to contact the New London Police Detective Bureau at 860-447-1481.
