STONINGTON, Conn — Two people were slightly injured, one of them a state trooper, during an interstate pursuit of a possible kidnapping suspect out of Rhode Island late Sunday.

At 9:42 PM, police said a Connecticut State Police cruiser with its lights and sirens on, was involved in a crash at the intersection of Route 27 and Coogan Boulevard in the Mystic section of Stonington.

Investigators believe the cruiser came off of I-95 Exit 90 southbound and was traveling south on Route 27 when it hit a vehicle at the intersection of Coogan Boulevard. Then the cruiser veered into the Seaport Shell gas station parking lot and came to rest after striking an unoccupied parked vehicle.
