SUFFIELD, Conn. — Two correctional staff members were injured after an incarcerated person tried to attack them with a piece of metal at MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution on Wednesday morning, according to the Department of Correction (DOC).
An inmate refused to go back into his cell around 7:40 a.m. and "became combative," the DOC said.
The incarcerated person had a "makeshift weapon" in his hand; a sharpened piece of metal, the DOC said.
Two staff members were injured; they were treated on-site by medical staff, according to the DOC.
The incarcerated person was placed in the facility's Restrictive Housing Unit after being secured, DOC said.
The Connecticut State Police and the Department of Correction are investigating this incident.
