STAFFORD, Connecticut — Connecticut State Police helped Monson, Mass. police locate and apprehend a woman on the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 21.

Tiffany Marie Cahl, 27, of Monson, Mass. was eventually taken into custody and charged with interfering with an officer and reckless driving.

Last Saturday afternoon, the Monson Police Department in Massachusetts contacted Troop C in Tolland, requesting help locating and stopping a vehicle driven by an adult female who was possibly under the influence of drugs and wanted for an incident that occurred in Monson, Mass., according to state police.

The vehicle described was a Toyota Rav4 with a Massachusetts license plate with a flat tire being driven on the rim. State police said it was traveling southbound on Route 32; it left Massachusetts and entered Connecticut in Stafford.

A responding trooper observed Monson, Mass. police officers following the Toyota traveling westbound on Route 319 in Connecticut with their emergency lights and sirens on. The trooper put their emergency lights and siren on as well and positioned the cruiser right behind the Toyota in an attempt to pull it over, state police said.

The operator of the Toyota, later identified as Cahl, complied and pulled over to the right and stopped partially within the westbound travel lane and right shoulder of Route 319, according to state police. She then fled the vehicle on foot into a wooded area.

Despite police directing her to stop running, Cahl failed to comply, according to state police. After a brief foot pursuit, the trooper and Monson police officers caught up to her and attempted to place her in handcuffs, but Cahl allegedly physically resisted. State police said that with assistance from Monson, Mass. police, the trooper was able to handcuff Cahl.

While investigating, state police said they asked Cahl to perform a Standard Field Sobriety Test but she refused. She did request medical attention and was taken to a local hospital.

After being evaluated and released from the hospital, Cahl was taken to Troop C in Tolland, where she was processed and charged.

Cahl was released on a $75,000 surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Rockville Superior Court on Oct. 2.
