HAMPTON, Conn — A motorcyclist has died after a collision on Route 6 in Hampton on Thursday afternoon.
State police were called just before 3 p.m. to respond to Route 6 near the VIP on 6 Auto Service building.
A motorcycle was traveling east in the right lane when a Nissan Versa was trying to turn left onto Route 6 from VIP on 6, according to state police. The motorcycle ended up hitting the Nissan, state police said.
The motorcycle operator, identified as James Harvey, 65, of Wauregan in Plainfield, was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries and was pronounced dead about an hour after the crash, according to officials. The Nissan driver said to officials on the scene that she was not injured and she declined medical treatment, state police said.
State police will continue to investigate this crash.
