PLAINFIELD, Conn. — The Plainfield Police Department apprehended a New Hampshire man on Friday who had an outstanding felony arrest warrant for five counts of possession of child sexual abuse images and five counts of distribution of child sexual abuse images in his home state, according to a release from Plainfield police.
On Friday, the Grafton County Police Department of New Hampshire requested that Plainfield police help them locate the fugitive, 50-year-old Michael Betz, of Canaan, N.H. Police said officers conducted a patrol check at a local hotel in Plainfield.
According to the release, officers saw Betz’ vehicle in the hotel parking lot and were informed by staff that he was staying in a hotel room. Police said officers found Betz and placed him into custody.
Betz informed officers that he had a handgun in the hotel room; Plainfield police said they seized the gun.
Betz was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and being a fugitive from justice, according to police, who said he is being held at the Plainfield Police Department on a $500,000 bond. Betz is scheduled to be arraigned at the Danielson Superior Courthouse, GA-11, on Monday.
It is unclear when he will be brought back to New Hampshire to face the charges pertaining to child sexual abuse images that he allegedly possessed and distributed.
