SALEM, Conn. — An Old Lyme resident suffered serious injuries in a Salem crash Friday evening, according to a release from Connecticut State Police.
According to state troopers, at approximately 5:24 p.m., a driver was “negotiating a slight ‘S’ turn in the roadway going south on Route 85 when he lost control of his vehicle.
The report says the vehicle traveled off the right shoulder of the road and struck a stone wall and tree. The vehicle then rolled over, ejecting the driver, State Police said. The crash report said the driver was not wearing his seat belt.
The driver was the only one in the vehicle at the time of the crash, according to State Police. He suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported by LIFE STAR helicopter to Hartford Hospital for further treatment.
Route 85 closed temporarily but is now open.
Connecticut State Police are looking for anyone who might have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash camera footage of the crash, that could assist with their investigation. All calls can be made to TFC Gregory DeCarli at Troop K-Colchester at 860-465-5400. Emails can be sent to gregory.decarli@ct.gov.
