WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. — Bradley International Airport (BDL), announced Wednesday that it will expand its route network to nearly 50 nonstop domestic and international destinations, according to a release from the Connecticut Airport Authority.
The international airport in Windsor Locks is also “significantly increasing flight options to Florida,” the release said.
The CAA reports that the airport’s longstanding partner JetBlue will expand service between Windsor Locks and the airline’s most popular Florida destinations in November. JetBlue will add one flight daily to Orlando, West Palm Beach, Tampa, Fort Myers and Fort Lauderdale.
According to the CAA, “The change in frequencies will result in an increase of 35 additional weekly flights and an increase of seats by 30% this winter in comparison to last year.”

JetBlue began flying out of Bradley International in 2010, and the airline provides nonstop service to seven destinations, including Los Angeles and San Juan, the CAA said. Last year, the airline served close to one million passengers from the airport in Windsor Locks, according to the release.
The CAA also said that in November, the airport will introduce Avelo Airlines to its lineup. Avelo will bring new domestic and international routes, which will operate twice a week.
Beginning Nov. 7, Avelo will fly to Charlotte/Concord, N.C., and starting Nov. 7, the airline will begin flights to Wilmington N.C.
Avelo flights to Houston, Texas will start on Nov. 8, while the airline will begin flying from Bradley International to Daytona Beach, Fla. on the same day.
Also, on Nov. 8, Avelo will begin flying from Windsor Locks to Orlando/Lakeland, Fla. On Nov. 16, Avelo will start flying from Bradley International to Montego Bay, Jamaica, and the airline will begin flights from Windsor Locks to Cancun, Mexico beginning on Nov. 20.
According to the CAA, Avelo is Bradley International’s 12th airline and fourth ultra-low-cost carrier. The airline will complement existing low fare service with Breeze Airways, Spirit Airlines and Frontier Airlines.
CAA Executive Director Kevin A. Dillon, A.A.E., said in the release that the CAA “continues to aggressively market Bradley International Airport to existing and potential new airlines as the best choice for their operations in New England.”
